Being a full-time social media influencer has become one of the most desired career choices for young people all over the globe. Thanks to the promise of generating significant sums of money simply by sharing multimedia content online. An Instagram influencer with over a million followers can earn more than $250,000 per post from sponsors. As if that wasn’t enough, Kylie Jenner could even make $1 million from a single sponsored Instagram post.
Recently, a new trend has appeared: the fake model.
Our Gorgeous Young Fake Model
A couple of months ago, we were shocked to learn that a model, Olivia Casta, had risen to number 1 in our top 25 list. She appeared out of nowhere, and many people began to question whether or not she was a genuine person. If you search for her name on Google, you will get plenty of results that lead you to believe she is a real person. At the moment of writing this article, she has over 950k followers on Instagram and over 100k followers on Twitter. She has plenty of images on the net, but you can only find pictures of her shot from the front with her looking at the camera, never from the side.
The Claim
The claim is that her true identity is Maria Tretjakova and that she is using FaceApp AI app’s Teen filter to make her look younger and more beautiful. Maria is a 35-year old Russian model, a real beauty who has one of the most gorgeous bodies on this planet.
If you check out her TikTok videos, you will see videos of her where she looks almost like a different person and still only shows herself from the front. It’s as if the video filters aren’t as good as the photo filters. Knowing about the link between Maria and Olivia, you can see the resemblance is there.
Why?
As some have speculated, the Olivia Casta controversy may well be the work of Maria Tretjakova herself. Maria barely has a social media presence despite her stunning looks. She used to be an active model with her own Instagram, but all that has disappeared. You might be wondering, at this point, why she has been pretending to be someone else.
Fundamentally, the goal is to maximize profits. The folks of the internet are deeply obsessed with young girls. Since Maria is in her thirties, she cannot compete with younger teens on the market anymore. The younger you are, the cooler and more popular you are. If you are more popular, you get more likes, more followers, higher engagement and interaction, and, of course, higher paid contracts from big companies. Combined with her perfect looks, Olivia’s persona is a huge money maker.
The reality for women these days is that their ‘sexual market value’ starts dropping when they’re 20. Christian Rudder, co-founder of OkCupid, once looks at their data and said at a talk: “From the time you’re 22, you’ll be less hot than a 20-year-old”. If they want to make a career on OnlyFans, they better start early. Modern photo manipulation like FaceApp’s filter give women a cheat code that allows them to game the system.
Diana Deets aka Coconut Kitty
Another example of a woman using filters to enhance her beauty and decrease her age is Diana Deets. She has gained massive popularity on OnlyFans as Coconut Kitty. Contrary to Olivia Casta, Diana Deets is not making a secret out of her identity and is purposely leaving her old photos online. She told this in an interview by Rolling Stone in 2021. From a financial perspective, Diana made a really good decision. With a monthly subscription cost of $10.99 and over 10k subscribers, she is earning a lot of money.
What does Babepedia do?
What should we do with these fake models? We decided to keep the profiles of both Olivia and Maria active, with a clear link between the two in the biography text. For now, this seems like the best decision.
